In Lu Yang’s work Delusional Crime and Punishment Wheel, a genderless, CGI-rendered avatar of the artist and various symbols dissect the meaning of existence through metaphors of theological determinism. Lu (*1984, China) suggests that if humankind was created by a God, our propensity to sin was preordained, and our arrival in hell inevitable.

Exhibitions have taken place at the 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, Venice, Deutsche Bank Artist of the Year, Palais Populaire, Berlin (both 2022); Jane Lombard Gallery, New York (2021); Centre Pompidou (2020); CCA Tel Aviv (2019); Spiral, Tokyo (2018) among others. Lu Yang lives in Shanghai.
