Untitled by Mircea Cantor (*1977, Romania) shows a cross made from a cowpat and dried flowers on the wall of a house in Romania, an ancient custom for protection against evil and disease. Cantor is interested in everyday objects, which he documents in passing, in order to preserve their transient beauty.
Recent solo exhibitions have taken place at Base / Progetti per l’arte, Florence (2022); Villa Médici - Académie de France à Rome (2021); STUK Arts Center, Leuven (2020); Musee d’Arts de Nantes (2019); and Foundation Hermès, Tokyo (2018). Mircea Cantor lives in Cluj and Paris.
