Karen Kilimnik (*1955, USA) is widely admired for her poetic work that evokes a glamorous bygone world with romantic wistfulness. Her paintings, installations and videos seemingly transcend time, conjuring a collective memory or fantasy. Kilimnik’s edition for Spike embodies the nostalgia and magic common to her practice. Decorative flora and fauna cover a background of deep vermilion red. Each edition is sprinkled with glitter, a prominent motif in her oeuvre.
Solo exhibitions of her work have taken place at Sprüth Magers (2019), 303 Gallery, New York (2019), and Galerie Eva Presenhuber (2017). She lives in Philadelphia.
