Gerwald Rockenschaub (*1952, Austria) was one of the first artists to engage in crossover between club culture and high culture. His works refer directly to everyday life and the present. He samples, quotes, mixes, reappropriates, shifts. In his work Poster (2007), he translated an already existing poster into abstract forms.

Recent solo exhibitions of his work have taken place at Belvedere 21, Vienna (2022); Mehdi Chouakri, Berlin (2021); Krobath, Vienna (2020); Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, London (2019); and Sammlung Goetz, Munich (2017). Gerwald Rockenschaub lives in Berlin.
